The kit for this Dee Howard 500 has been designed by Charles G Loud III and is a scale masterpiece. At 1/5 scale it spans 169" with a length of 140". It has been meticulously designed to be a true scale replica of this rare aircraft.
The aircraft has been designed for two Moki 150cc radial engines and features fully functional Fowler Flaps. The fuselage is designed to separate just aft of the wing for easy transportation. Construction follows traditional methods involving balsa, ply and birch spars.
The printed drawings are not full model scale as they would be extremely large, they are ½ model scale so the measurements can be taken if necessary. A full color drawing set in 17" x 11" format is also provided for quick reference. Full size b/w or color printed drawings can be provided at an additional charge but electronic versions are included on a CD. A set of construction notes and detailed drawings are included to ensure the kit goes together as easily as possible.
The aircraft is available as just the plans, short kit (plans and cut wood parts), full kit (plans, cut parts and sheet wood, composite accessories and hardware set).
